Wrong Way Truck Driver Couldn’t Read The Signs

A truck driver was stopped in Missouri for driving on the wrong side of the road. Thankfully police were able to stop him before he caused a major accident. The truck driver drove miles into oncoming traffic before he was stopped

Turns out the truck driver, who held a Minnesota CDL, could not read the road signs.

Here is the video:

There has been a ton of talk surrounding the use of foreign drivers obtaining CDL’s without being able to read English and the above incident is clear reason why. The truck in the video apparently had a weight of 80,000 lbs and if he or she even glanced off a vehicle it would have caused a ton of damage and even worse a loss of life

How someone is able to obtain a CDL without being able to read English or properly identify standard road signs is beyond me and it speaks of a large scale corruption that has been going into CDL training for years. The United States government and the Canadian Government have begun to clean up the corruption that surrounds CDL licensing however it is going to take years for the mess to be cleaned up

As a prospective CDL holder this is why it is imperative to research the truck driving school that you are going to attend. Yes it would be great to get your CDL quickly but these schools are putting you and the general public at risk every time they hit the road. A real school would never allow a prospective CDL driver who was unable to speak English and identify the road signs found across North America to graduate from their school let alone test for a CDL

If you want to make the roads in North America safer it needs to start at eliminating the CDL mills that are putting drivers like the one above on the road

You can see other cars on the same side of the highway as the big rig passing in the opposite direction.

What they’re saying:
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy posted to social media about the incident.

“DISTURBING: We have learned that a truck driver with a Minnesota CDL who couldn’t read basic road signs spent MILES driving the wrong way in an 80 TON truck! Thanks to Missouri law enforcement, this dangerous trucker is now out of service. @FMCSA is also investigating the carrier, Cargo Transportation LLC. We will not stop until America’s roads are safe again for families.”

Fox 9 has reached out to the carrier for comment and to the Minnesota Department of Vehicle Services for more information.

What we know:
Missouri State Patrol confirmed to Fox news, the incident happened Wednesday and the driver was cited and placed out of service.

Fox 9 looked into the carrier’s information, which is also visible in the clip.

It is registered to an apartment in Hopkins. The carrier’s status with the U.S. Department of Transportation is listed as being active with two drivers in its fleet. The company reported driving 81,552 miles in 2024.

The backstory:
The Trump administration has been cracking down on CDL licenses.

Minnesota currently has a temporary pause in place on issuing licenses to foreign nationals after errors were discovered.
